Membership and Volunteering at the Museum
Join the Society
New members are always welcomed. Please complete the membership form and return it to us, with your membership fees, to be approved at the next Society meeting. Membership fees are $20 and are paid annually at the start of the financial year.

Volunteering
Becoming a member of the Millthorpe and District Historical Society enables you to participate in any of the following interest areas.
Cataloguing
Catering
The Museums Catering Committee caters for on-site and off-site functions. Become part of the working committee or just help out with supplying food when required for functions.
Craft Contributor
The Society operates a Craft Cottage on the Museum grounds. Join up to sell your items or volunteer to open and operate the Craft Cottage. Please click here for further details on contributing craft items for sale.
Displays/Social History
Education Committee
The Education Committee meets regularly to discuss and prepare school packages for children visiting the Museum.

Family History/Archives
Work in our archives area to provide answers to family history inquires.
Hen's Shed
Not to be outdone by the Projects and Maintenance Group, the ladies also meet on the second Monday of the month (9 to 12) to do odd jobs around the complex. Items include gardening, cleaning, dusting and preparing for upcoming events.
Maintenance & Projects Committee
The Maintenance & Projects Committee are an active group of volunteers, with an interest in farm machinery and they meet every third Thursday of the month to; organise various displays of farm machines, maintain and repair (where necessary) machines, research and catalogue new donations of machines and make up information panels for machines. The group also plan and organise for any upcoming Demonstration Days to ensure machines are working.
Oral History
Interviewing and recording oral history of local identities.
Photographic Committee
Cataloguing, scanning, auditing and preparing display albums of the large photographic and pioneer portraits collection.
Roster Duty Craft Cottage
Operate the Jacoba Craft Cottage during opening hours. Operate the counter, assist customers, handle the till and record takings.
Roster Duty Museum
Man the front desk, welcome visitors, take entry money and inquiries, watch and circulate around the complex during opening hours.
Friend of the Museum
Like to know what is happening with the Museum but can't volunteer? Be involved in our events and have the benefit of being a member. Then join up as a Friend of the Museum and we will keep you up to date with what we are doing.
Cataloguing
- Help to catalogue the museums massive collection of items.
- Computer and paper based catalogue systems.
- Learn accepted Museum protocols and procedures.
- Join the Accessions Committee and appraise and decide on items being donated to the Museum.
